Using Heat Transfer Vinyl & Mask

Using Heat Transfer Vinyl & Mask

Each type of Heat Transfer Vinyl & Mask have different specs for temperature & times which are available from each manufacturer. In this case we are using Siser since we use this brand to print our HTV patterns. Here's our Top 5 Tips:

Siser ColorPrint PU Specs:

100% Cotton • 100% Polyester • Poly/Cotton Blends • Lycra • Spandex • Leather

Polyurethane Composition • Mylar Liner • White Base • Matte Finish • 45° Blade • 80 microns / 3.1 mils thick • CPSIA certified

1. Prepare your design right-reading so DO NOT MIRROR. Use Patterns for large, thick fonts or behind the text on a large shape. Make a cut out to drop the text in since it is not layer-able

2. Perform a depth cut test in a corner before cutting the vinyl. Then, weed away the excess vinyl, leaving only the design. Check carefully before applying the Mask for missed areas or specks of vinyl left behind.

3. Use a squeegee to smooth out trapped air, pushing out toward the nearest edge on the Siser TTD Mask. Once the bubbles are gone, de-lint & press the garment for a few seconds to remove any moisture.

4. Measure & position the design & then cover it with a Silicone or Kraft paper sheet. Press at 295°F for 15-20 seconds using medium pressure in your heat press.

5. Peel the Transfer Mask off the design while still hot & lay the garment flat. Do not fold until completely cool to avoid wrinkles in the vinyl.

EZ-TIP: Printable Vinyl & HTV is very sensitive before it's pressed so always handle with care. Do not use oils or cream before handling. Pre-wash your hands to avoid oily finger prints during weeding which is most noticeable on the darker colored patterns.
